![]() I would personally stay away from Mike Todd because he gets into prosperity teaching. Every tribe seems to, at times, promote people who have charisma and talent even if they show no other pastoral gifting. Mike Todd is a speaker with a lot of charisma. Why is this man pastoring such a large church? Basically I just ended up saying it was a "culture shock." How can lovingly I put my actual concerns to words, next time? My second question is, why did this sermon rub me the wrong way? My friend is raised non-denominational and her father was also a pastor who didn't go to seminary. My first question is, is this guy legit? Did I just happen to stumble on a one-off bad sermon, and if not, why is this man pastoring such a large church? That sermon really didn't hit me right and in our discussion after I didn't know how to explain to my roommate very well why it did. And then he told a story about how the Spirit led him to persist and try to buy a building for ministry purposes that, until the last moment, was going to be an arcade, I think? Outside of vague references there wasn't much homage paid to the Gospel/scripture, and the whole thing just felt so self-lauding. The sermon mainly consisted of this man telling people to follow the calling of the Spirit, regardless of whether it makes sense and whether they have the training. Walked in on my friend the other day listening to a sermon by a man who openly boasts that he began pastoring a mega church with no prior experience as a pastor and having never gone to seminary.
